" For a band to be successful in the caberet
genre of show-business it is not enough to just be vocally
proficient, musically adequate and look presentable on
stage. There is a vital ingredient which most lack and
CAMUS have in abundance. The ability to entertain.
Their vocal prowess is excellent both individually
and collectively. I have rarely heard three voices blend
so beautifully and, as I write, I am listening to one
of Robert's superb guitar breaks. His dedication and
love of the instrument is highly evident in his playing.
This along with Fiona's sparkling lead vocals, Pamela's
inspirational keyboard ability and the best drums and
bass on the circuit with Alan and Martin and their combined
wicked sense of humour, results in a delightful mix
of warmth and charm to which the audience never fails
to respond.
As a professional of some thirty years standing I
have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending CAMUS
for any engagement to which they feel they are suited.
Their professionalism and attitude to their work is
exemplary and, in addition to all of the above, and
perhaps most importantly, they are nice people."

The
Cancer Research Campaign
" Dear Robert,
On behalf of everyone at The Cancer Research Campaign
can I thank CAMUS for all you have done to help raise
funds and the profile for our campaign.
To have raised £3,080 as well as organise all
your gigs is a real credit to you all. You should feel
very proud of what you have done. Please accept this
certificate from The Cancer Research Campaign, I do
hope you can display it in a prominent position when
you do your gigs."

Bett
Inns
" Dear Robert,
Caring for Kids Ball - Invercarse Hotel
I thought I would drop you a line to thank CAMUS
most sincerely for a wonderful night on Friday at The
Caring For Kids Ball. I spoke to many people at the
end of the evening and without exception they all thought
the band were excellent.
Bett Inns arrange various nights in our Hotels and
I would therefore hope to be in touch with you again.

Live
Business International
" Dear Robert,
Well what can I say! My sincere thanks for a fabulous
season on Cyprus at the Atlantica Bay Hotel.
As you know Thomson Holidays are a very important
client to LBI, so booking a really outstanding band
for our first season at this venue was vital. I am so
pleased that it was CAMUS. Not only did you exceed my
expectations, but the thousands of guests who saw you
perform during the season, the other acts and the hotel
management.
It was a real pleasure to visit the hotel towards
the end of the season and see what a superb and professional
act CAMUS are. Bands of your quality are very few and
far between and I am certain you have a very bright
future on the international stage."

Glyn Davis - Senior Partner, Lothian Variety
Agency
I have been involved with the development of CAMUS
since the mid 1990's and I have watched them grow from
a duo to the superb band they are today.
The amount of experience and expertise they have
amassed is unusual and exceptional for bands based in
Scotland because of the lack of opportunity when compared
to London and the North of England. Robert Maitland
however has taken his portfolio (and on many occasions
the band itself) to the various contacts that have presented
themselves to him and secured very valuable work initially
on ferries and later in Mediterranean five star hotels.
Taking CAMUS from a trio to a five piece was possibly
the most difficult target the band set themselves but
they have done admirably and I, as their most prolific
exponent, am now content to book them with the most
prestigious clients.
The most satisfying engagement without any doubt
has been the occasion of the ' Presentation Of New Colours
to the First Battalion Royal Scots.' The Royal Scots
are the senior line infantry regiment of the British
Army and their headquarters is currently in Edinburgh.
The presentation of new colours happens only once every
twenty-five years and it is so important to have nothing
but the most impeccable people working on such an engagement.
When the job was first mooted it was planned that
the Princess Royal would be in attendance and as result
the officer in charge of sourcing the entertainment
auditioned several bands - he chose CAMUS. His comments
to me in the week following the ball were that no one
could have done a better job, not just in performance
but also in attitude on and off stage. He also commented
most favourably on Robert's man management skills when
organising the ancillary entertainers to ensure the
best presentation was achieved - something he was not
booked or paid to do but entered into cheerfully.
We continue to book CAMUS on a regular basis and
promote them as the premier band in Scotland. Our English
clients afford them exceptionally high status and fees
and they have become a sought after item throughout
the UK and Europe.
The Musicians Network
received the following review for Camus
event: WEDDING
date: 17th
November 2007
name: Mhairi Keddie and Scott Pollock
venue: Marriott Hotel, Edinburgh
times: 8pm - midnight
This is the review from the bride Mhairi Keddie:
"Q1. Did the musicians measure up to your expectations?
If not, please give reason why.
They didn't meet them, they exceeded them. Camus are fantastic and Robert had our guests
in the palm of his hand all night. I
promise you 90% of our guests were up dancing all night - even the Groom danced
his socks off and that is completely unheard of!!!
We have had lots of phone calls thanking us for a great
evening and everyone, without fail has commented on how great the band were.
Q2. Did the musicians behave courteously and in a
professional manner? Absolutely, they even did an Amy Winehouse number as a
special request.
Q3. We hope you can offer us a 'quote' that sums up your
feelings about the music on your wedding day.
We got married in Oban a few weeks ago and Saturday night
was a wedding party celebration. We
wanted a party atmosphere and that’s exactly what Camus delivered. Robert got
the measure of the music we would need for our various guests immediatelyand he
nailed it. We had everything from swing
to Elton John, the Bay City Rollers to Van Morrison to the Scissor Sisters etc
etc. Corny as it sounds, Camus were the
icing on our wedding cake! We enjoyed our party so much I might just have a 1st
anniversary one too and I’d want Camus!
